How it works
Three steps, then it's off your desk.
Threshold & scheme check
We check whether and when you must register, and which scheme leaves you best off.
We set up MTD filing
Digital records connected, quarters diarised, first return scheduled.
Quarterly, quietly
Each quarter we prepare, you approve, we file. Reminders come to you before HMRC's do.
Deadlines & penalties
You must register within 30 days of your rolling 12-month turnover exceeding £90,000 — the clock starts when you cross it, not at year end. Returns and payment are due 1 month and 7 days after each quarter. HMRC's points system fines £200 once you accumulate late-submission points; late payment penalties start at day 15 and interest runs daily.
Common questions
VAT Returns & Registration, answered.
Sometimes — if your customers are VAT-registered businesses you can reclaim input VAT at no real cost to them. If you sell to the public, it usually just raises your prices. We'll run your numbers both ways.
You pay a fixed percentage of gross turnover instead of tracking every input. Simpler, and profitable for some service businesses — but the "limited cost trader" rate of 16.5% removes the benefit for many. We check before recommending it.
Digital record-keeping and filing through compatible software — spreadsheets and the old HMRC portal no longer qualify. We set you up and can run the bookkeeping entirely.
Register immediately — HMRC backdates your liability to when you should have registered. We can negotiate, calculate the exposure, and often soften penalties considerably.
